What Lions Are
Lions are men and
women dedicated to serving those in need whether in their own community or
halfway around the world. In addition to humanitarian service, they enjoy
fellowship and develop leadership capacity.
The official
name of Lions is “The International Association of Lions Club: or simply “Lions
Clubs International”.
The letters in
Lions stand for:
The emblem has
two Lions heads; one is looking at our past achievements while the other is
looking at the future.
Our colours are
Purple and Gold. Purple represents;
Loyalty to country, friends and one’s self and to the integrity of mind and
heart. It is the colour of strength,
courage and dedication to a cause.
Gold symbolises
sincerity of purpose, liberality in judgment, purity in life and generosity in
mind, heart and purpose towards mankind.
Our Motto
is: WE
SERVE
The primary aim
of Lionism is service, first to the clubs community, then to those in need
wherever they may be. Lions perform more
activities and help more people than any other service organisation.
